New Delhi, Aug 12: The govt on Wednesday said it had been willing to debate the Lalit Modi issue underneath an adjournment motion as demanded by the Congress within the Lok Sabha.
When the house assembled within the morning, the Congress affected an adjournment motion on the problem. The govt listed for the discussion to be taken up under rule 193, that doesn’t entail vote.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is within the eye of a storm over her links to the previous IPL chief said: “Please settle for their adjournment motion. Suspend the business of the house and discussion the problem. Let solely members of the opposition speak led by the Leader of Congress within the house Mallikarjun Kharge.”
“But my only request is that once I reply they must all be present within the house to concentrate to me,” Swaraj said.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu conjointly said that the govt was able to discuss the matter underneath an adjournment motion.
Kharge, however, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be present within the house once the matter is discussed.
“We have given an adjournment motion and you’ve got rejected it. however we would like you to suspend all business and take it up. however the prime minister should be present within the house as he needs to take action against his ministers,” he said.
The speaker said she was prepared for the touch be mentioned underneath an adjournment motion, however once the question hour was over.
“I have disallowed it. however if everyone needs then this will be taken up. However in step with procedure it is taken up only once question hour.”
The Congress disagreed with this and insisted on suspension of question hour.
Following this, the Congress members came to their slogan shouting close to the speaker’s dais.
