BIHAR-BPatna, Aug 12: A masterplan to develop Bihar’s capital Patna as a metropolitan town is likely to be disclosed shortly once a wait of over thirty years, an official said on Wednesday.

The move comes before the approaching state polls.

“The state designing and development board has approved the programme for Patna, Urban Development Department’s Principal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena said.

“Patna’s draft programme will be sent to the state cupboard probably next week for its final approval,” he added.

Last year, Patna’s draft programme was place within the property right for suggestions and objections from the over 2 million residents once the state cupboard declared the “plan area” within the projected programme for Patna.

Meena said town would be cover 1,167 sq. km against the present 250 sq km. Over 600 sq. km space has been marked as populated area, which has fixing of 2 satellite cities to cater to urbanisation and increase within the next twenty years.

The city can have a region of over four hundred sq. km marked as green cowl. It’s been projected that over sixteen p.c of the whole space will be used for roads.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar roped within the Centre for atmosphere designing and Technology, Ahmedabad, in 2011 to organize the programme.

The last master plan for Patna (1961-1981) ended thirty four years agone. Tho’ a master plan was ready for the amount 1981-2001, it didn’t have the formal approval of the government.
