New Delhi, Nov 18: Thousands of supporters of controversial sect leader Rampal Tues staged a protest here and demanded a CBI probe into allegations of his involvement in a murder conspiracy.
A five-member team of supporters conjointly met President Pranab Mukherjee and submitted a memo requesting a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
“We need that the case be probed by the CBI and a committee of retired high court judges be shaped to inquire the matter,” sect supporter Bhagat Chetrapal, 45, a resident of Hisar.
Another supporter from Hisar, Uma, 35, said: “We ar his devotees. The case has been occurring for eight years however nothing has been verified against him (Rampal).”
The protest within the capital transpire as Rampal’s followers and security forces clashed Tues in Hisar as police tried to storm his ashram complicated in a bid to arrest him.
