Google may localise YouTube in Pakistan, says Minister

GOOGLEIslamabad, Dec 13: Google could localise YouTube in Pakistan – a move which will modify the users to access the video sharing web site within the country, a media report aforesaid Wed.

YouTube has been blocked in Pakistan since 2012.

A report within the leading daily Dawn aforesaid if bound conditions of the Google management are met, YouTube are accessible in Pakistan as YouTube.com.pk.

Anusha Rehman, the minister of state for data technology and telecommunications, aforesaid Tuesday the govt. has succeeded in convincing Google concerning the non secular sensitivities of the Pakistanis.

The native computer program will build it easier to dam any blasphemous or objectionable content, she said.

However, the minister aforesaid the Google management would do therefore when the govt. met a number of its conditions.

“Management of Google/YouTube has shown its disposition to localise YouTube in Pakistan provided they’ll not be control accountable if blasphemous content is placed and uploaded on its web site,” the minister told the Senate committee.

“The net service won’t be control liable for blasphemous content uploaded on its sites as which will be a private action of the individual,” she told the committee.

“The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is finalising a draft ordinance which can be processed by the ministry for enactment as law,” she added.

“Saudi Arabian Peninsula and Malaysia have also reached an identical arrangement with Google,” the daily quoted her as saying.
