GHANAAccra (Ghana), July 03: The Ghana football Association (GFA) has issued a public apology for the Black Stars’ early departure from the 2014 World Cup.

The Black Stars, quarterfinalists four years past, finished at the lowest in group G with one purpose following a defeat to the US, a draw with Germany and loss to Portugal, reports Xinhua.

This was Ghana’s worst performance since their debut at the 2006 finals in Germany.

GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi aforesaid the performance of the team failed to match their expectation.

“Admittedly, the performance of the team fell below the expectation of the many Ghanaians. Our inability to qualify for the second round bust several Ghanaian hearts and we want to supply our unqualified apologies for that disappointment,” he said.

Ghana’s World Cup campaign was bulldog by controversies once the team nearly boycotted the sport against Portugal over unpaid look fees.

The agitation led to the ouster of 2 players, Sulley Ali Muntari, and Kevin-Prince Boateng, from the team’s camp for misconduct.

Head coach of the facet Kwasi Appiah also apologised on behalf of the players and technical committee.

He, however, known that his facet, one among the youngest within the tournament, had the potential to surprise the world within the close to future despite the flop.

“I believe that there were specialized positives within the team,” aforesaid Appiah, who is the initial autochthonal coach to require Ghana to the world Cup finals.

“That going into a contest with concerning fifteen debutants, who haven’t been to the world category stage, and searching at their performance, i think that we may improve on it and make certain that in future we get real players who are extremely committed to the nation’s cause, who are disciplined and ready to kill themselves for the state,” he said.

“I believe the nation will rely upon the young boys for ten or more years,” he added.

Ghana have currently shifted attention to the African Cup of countries qualifiers in Sep to book a place in the 2015 finals in Morocco.
