Lucknow/Dehradun, May 2 : When many sorties by MI-17 choppers attempting to douse the forest fires in Uttarakhand were aborted at several places on Sunday because of “poor visibility and thick smoke”, the government was pinning its hopes on the rain gods, that the Met workplace added can oblige in the week.

For now, apart from attempting “every methodology at hand, we will simply pray that rains lash the state as shortly as possible”, a senior government official told.
