New Delhi, November 9 Manmohan Singh Saturday announced interim assistance of Rs.1,000 crore each for Odisa and Andhra Pradesh for relief and rehabilitation after they were hit by cyclone Phailin last month.

Total quantum of help to the states will be finalised after consideration of the on-the spot assessment report of the inter-ministerial central team,”

Rs.200,000 each to the next of kin of the decreased and Rs.50,000 each to the seriously injured people have been sanctioned from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy Saturday called on the prime minister and presented a memorandum regarding the losses suffered due to the cyclone and the subsequent heavy rains and floods in the state.
