EC approves NOTA symbol design


Electionnone of aboveNew Delhi, October 31 The election commission of India approved the design of none of the above (NOTA) button, that is being introduced for the first time in the Delhi assembly elections, said a statement Thursday.

The NOTA symbol approved is a circular depiction with black background and NOTA written in white in capital letters in English.

NOTA will be written in addition to “None of the above” in the row of symbols. this time it’ll be one amongst the sixteen buttons in the electronic voting machine.

The depiction will stay a similar in all the ballot papers, whatever be the language of it.

“We are trying our best to popularize the “none of the above” button with the name of NOTA, so the voters don’t get muddled regarding it,” said Delhi election commission’s chief nodal officer Ankur Garg.

The NOTA button also known as “against all” may be a ballot option designed to allow the voter to indicate disapproval of all of the candidates in a electoral system.
