Delhi students averse to electoral rollsNew Delhi, October 29 a week after NGOs started a campaign to woo more and more university students so they will vote in the Dec four Delhi assembly elections, only two hundred students have till currently filled up the electoral forms to enroll in the voter list, Delhi commission sources said Tuesday.

“Different ways like counselling and street corner plays are getting used to spread awareness among the scholars, but it looks that majority of them are determined to not vote,” said Uttkarsh Rai, founder member of Sankalp, an NGO.

“Till now, the campaign has been completed in four Delhi University-affiliated colleges and the Jawaharlal Nehru University. however the efforts haven’t shown the desired results.

The campaign work has been stopped for currently due to Diwali. Once the universities and the universities open up, better and more effective ways will be used to boost the young voters so that they participate in the elections and use their electoral right, said member from Sankalp.
