dcwNew Delhi, Jan 30: Delhi Commission for women (DCW) chief Barkha Singh can meet Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung here Thursday to assert her right to remain in workplace when the Aam Aadmi Party government said she would be replaced.

“I have been appointed a notification and nobody has right to ask for my resignation. i’ll present all my facts to the Lt. Governor as i’ll be meeting him today (Thursday),” Singh told a television channel.

The Delhi government has appointed Hindi novelist Maitreyi Pushpa because the panel’s new chief.

“Why should I not be holding the post at DCW? I have done nothing wrong I have simply been operating to safeguard the rights of women and foreign nationals in India,” added Singh.

The women’s panel chief Wed defendant AAP government of “harassing” her when she summoned Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti to clarify his polemic campaign against an alleged prostitution racket.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said: “Barkha Singh has fought election from the Congress party and if she is that the chairperson at DCW she isn’t neutral and she is doing politics there.”

“We want a neutral person and Maitryee Pushpa may be a renowned figure and her presence can increase the stature of DCW,” Kejriwal added.
