babaNew Delhi, March 8: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Friday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) doesn’t see corruption in states ruled by it and accused the party of block passage of anti-corruption bills in parliament.

Addressing “Udaan”, the national convention of National Students Union of India at the Talkatora stadium here, Gandhi said the Congress has taken action where it found complaints of corruption.

“Wherever Congress sees corruption, it takes action. The opposition, on the opposite hand, has blocked the passage of anti-corruption bills in parliament. they do not see corruption in state, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh,” Gandhi said.

Karnataka was dominated for 5 years by the BJP and the Congress came back to power within the state last year. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are ruled by the BJP.

Referring to NSUI members as “the future of the Congress party”, Gandhi asked them to “continue their smart work” and increase the strength of the party’s students wing.

He congratulated the scholars for their achievements within the recent union elections in Gujarat university and lauded the NSUI’s efforts in conducting RTI workshops for students.

“I are to several conventions however I even have ne’er seen this sort of energy. Some years past, we opened the doors of NSUI. Today, I feel that there’s a whole new generation of NSUI leaders,” Gandhi said.

NSUI members said the organisation has undergone important structural transformation and as a result “students from non-political backgrounds were playing an instrumental role”.
