Jyoti Basu townshipKolkata, Nov twenty eight state Governor M.K. Narayanan Wed disapprovedĀ  of the Trinamool Congress government’s move to withdraw a bill that named a town within the town when former chief minister Jyoti Basu.

“Well, i am in no way in favour of amendment of name,” Narayanan told mediapersons on the sidelines of a programme here.

The Trinamool regime of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Tues withdrew within the state assembly the urban area, metropolis Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2011 glided by the erstwhile Left Front regime that had enclosed a proposal to call the space|populated area} area as Jyoti Basu Nagar.

Disregarding robust protests from opposition Left Front members, the govt. replaced the legislation by the urban area, Kolkata Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2013, that had no provision concerning the township’s language.

The town, formed throughout Basu’s tenure, was named when him through a gazette notification in 2010. The urban area, metropolis Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2011, had a clause that noted the language.

Born July eight, 1914, Basu was state chief minister for twenty three years until he voluntarily stepped down in 2000 because of maturity and health issues.

State Minister for Urban Development Firhad Hakim aforesaid the new bill aimed toward relaying the legal system of the administrative division, from that envisaged within the recent legislation.

On the opposite hand, the Left Front termed as “politically motivated” the withdrawal of the recent bill and its replacement with a brand new one.
