New Delhi, Aug 18: At least fifteen birds were killed and over three hundred hurt because of kite strings on Independence Day in the national capital, an officer with the Charity Birds Hospital here aforesaid Sunday.
“Over three hundred birds were admitted to our hospital. Fifteen died during treatment and a few are still important,” Sunil Jain, an officer with the hospital in central Delhi.
The hurt birds, largely pigeons, had been dropped at the hospital until Fri evening. Some were harm and in important condition, he added.
Sunil Jain takes care of the work of Charity Bird Hospital run by the Jain community at a Jain Temple in Chandni Chowk area.
He aforesaid the hospital, that was established in 1956, sometimes admits over fifty hurt birds in a day and releases them once treatment.
Kite flying may be a tradition on Independence Day.
