‘MSG’ releases amid tight security

MSG-1Chandigarh, Feb 13: Amid tight security across Haryana and Chandigarh, controversial  film “MSG – the Messenger” was released Fri in 4,000 screens across the country.

Security personnel patrolled close to all the theatres and multiplexes across Haryana and Chandigarh Fri because the film was released.

Police and paramilitary forces manned sensitive areas.

Prohibitory orders against assembly of people and carrying weapons were issued across Haryana Thursday to affect any untoward scenario, ensuing owing to the build-up of tension over the release of the film.

Sikh organisations control protests in some places in Haryana Thursday.

Haryana Director General of Police Yashpal Singal has urged people to keep up law and order.

“Section one hundred forty four has been obligatory in varied districts and extra police personnel are deployed all told the cinema halls,” Singhal aforesaid.

The authorities have prohibited holding any procession or demonstration while not permission.

The Punjab government has prohibited the release of the film last month.

After being denied a release certificate by the Censor Board last month, the film got the certificate last week.

Haryana police officers aforesaid here that the case was being closely monitored in several elements of the state, particularly in Sirsa, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, Rohtak, Ambala and different districts.

While the Dera Sacha Sauda sect headquarters are placed close to Sirsa city, 250 km from Chandigarh, Kurukshetra and a few different places house a considerable Sikh population.

The relations between sect followers and Sikhs haven’t been sensible in recent years.

In Chandigarh, security has been tightened around malls, wherever the film was discharged.

Sikh leaders Thursday submitted a memo to the Chandigarh administration Thursday, seeking a ban on the discharge of the film.

The controversial  film was earlier referred to as “MSG” (Messenger of God).

It was to be released Jan sixteen, however it failed to get clearance from the Censor Board. varied teams protested against its release at that time.

The sect leader, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who plays the protagonist within the film, is its director, singer and author, and has been sharply promoting the film nationwide.

The sect claims the film isn’t against any faith or cluster and is merely light social evils.
