BELHyderabad, Aug 14: India electronics limited (BEL) has decided to line up a unit in the defence sector in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs.1,500 crore.

This was sent to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu by a delegation of officers of the public-sector company.

The company has sought 1,000 acres of land in Penugonda in Anantapur district.

The officers aforesaid the placement would be ideal and nearer to their headquarters in Bangalore.

The planned facility is likely to make jobs for five hundred people, aforesaid a statement from the Chief Minister’s workplace.

The company officers also sought land for increasing BEL’s existing unit at Machilipatnam.

They au courant the chief minister that IR lenses (night goggles) factory-made by BEL are in nice demand which they were also used during the Kargil war.

They urged the government to allot fifty acres of land to extend the IR lenses production capability from 30,000 to 2.5 lakh units.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government Wed assigned 1,102 acres of land to the Defence research Development Organisation (DRDO) for a producing unit in Chittoor district.

The government has fixed land value at Rs.1.25 lakh per acre.

The government also assigned five hundred acres of land for a 1,000-MW solar power park in Anantapur district.

A four-member committee was also ingrained to figure out an inspiration for fixing explanation park in Visakhapatnam below Public private Partnership (PPP).
