New Delhi, Aug 02: President Pranab Mukherjee Sat congratulated sportspersons for winning medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Mukherjee congratulated Seema Punia, Sharath Kamal, Anthony Amalraj and Pinki rani Jangra for winning medals in their respective games and wanted them “very best for all future endeavours”.
In separate letters, Mukherjee said: “The nation is proud of their performances.”
Seema Punia won a silver medal in women’s discus throw whereas Sharath Kamal and Anthony Amalraj bagged the silver in men’s doubles table tennis. Pinki Jangra brought home a trophy in women’s 48-51 kg boxing.
The President, earlier within the day, had congratulated different sportspersons like Yogeshwar Dutt, Babita Kumari, Vikas Gowda, Geetika Jakhar, Dipa Karmakar and Pawan Kumar for their performances.
Dutt (men’s race sixty five kg) and Kumari (women’s race fifty five kg) smitten gold medals, Jhakar (women’s race sixty three kg) won a silver, and Kumar (men’s race eighty six kg) had to accept a trophy in wrestling.
Gowda won gold in discus throw whereas Karmarkar became the primary Indian lady athlete to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games by bagging a bronze within the vault event.
