sharifIslamabad, Jan 20: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has cancelled his visit to Switzerland in view of the recent terrorist attacks in the country, his office said Sunday.

“Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has decided to cancel his visit to Davos, Switzerland in wake of recent spike in terror incidents and Bannu tragedy,” Xinhua quoted a PM office statement as saying.

“Our nation is united against extremism and terrorism and the sacrifices rendered by our voters and personnel of law imposing agencies won’t get in vain”, Sharif said in the statement.

The prime minister was regular to leave for Davos, Switzerland Jan 21 to represent Pakistan at the meeting of the world Economic Forum at Davos.

In the latest incident, at least 22 security personnel were killed and 38 injured once the Pakistani Taliban attacked an army convoy in the country’ Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Sunday.

The attack occurred because the convoy was carrying troopers from Bannu district to Miranshah area in the tribal region of North Waziristan once it was targeted with a bomb in the cantonment space, the Dawn reported.

Claiming responsibility for the attack, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said attacks on the security forces would continue.
