Bengaluru, Dec 29: A woman died and 3 people were injured in a low-intensity blast close to a restaurant within the city center Sunday, a high police official aforesaid.
“The woman, known as Bhavani, who suffered head injury within the blast, succumbed in a personal hospital, whereas the injured are undergoing treatment within the same hospital,” Commissioner of Police M.N. Reddi told reporters.
The blast occurred around 8.30 p.m. once an improvised explosive device (IED) went off close to Coconut Grove restaurant on upmarket Church Street parallel to M.G. Road, he said.
One of the injured , Karthik, was a relative of Bhavani, and had come back from Chennai last week for the Christmas vacation.
“We have cordoned off the realm for investigation by rhetorical specialists,” Reddi aforesaid.
The IED was wrapped in a paper with a timer, as was discerned from the remnants at the spot.
As the incident occurred 3 days before the year eve, the town has been placed on high alert.
“We have stepped up vigil and intense patrolling across the town to forestall from now on incident in sight of the New Year eve festivities,” Reddi aforesaid.
