New Delhi, May: 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally took charge of his office on a pleasing Tues, and his very first act was to announce ex-gratia to victims of a train disaster in Uttar Pradesh.

Modi, who took oath as prime minister Monday evening, drove from the Gujarat Bhavan wherever he’s staying to achieve the Prime Minister’s office in South Block near 9 a.m., close to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Officials greeted Modi with bouquets as he got out of a black BMW, wearing a light brown kurta churidar and a dark brown Nehru jacket. Modi waved and smiled at the journalists amassed near .

Moving into his room, Modi initial stood in short before a framed image of Mahatma Gandhi, rolled-up his hands in reverence and placed some flowers.

He then signed documents for 15-20 minutes before heading to the stately Hyderabad House to fulfill leaders of SAARC countries and Mauritius who attended his swearing in Monday evening.

Modi’s initial official act was to announce ex-gratia of Rs.2 lakh and Rs.50,000 to the kin of these killed and to the seriously injured  in a train accident in Uttar Pradesh Monday.
