MUMBMumbai, Jan 02: The five-day 102nd Indian Science Congress (ISC) beginning here Sat would brand Mumbai a ‘Science City’, acknowledging its contribution within the fields of science, technology, medication and analysis, an official aforesaid here Friday.

Organised by the Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkata, the ISC can revolve around the theme of ‘Science and Technology for Human Development’ and is being hosted by University of Mumbai from Jan 3-7.

“We shall brand Mumbai as ‘Science City’ because of this nice city’s contribution to the sphere of science and connected aspects,” University of Mumbai vice chancellor Rajan Welukar aforesaid here.

He seen that Mumbai has establishments of repute just like the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai (IIT-B), the Bhabha Atomic research Centre (BARC), Tata Institute of fundamental research (TIFR) et al.

“The contribution of Mumbai to science is documented… we’d like this even to be a happening of Mumbai town instead of simply the university,” Welukar aforesaid.

The ISC can cowl fourteen broad segments like agriculture and biology, animal, veterinary and fisheries, social science and behavioral, chemical, earth systems, engineering, environmental, materials, data and communications, mathematical, medical, new biology, physical and plant sciences.

The ISC’s mega-science accumulation, to be control at MMRDA Grounds within the Bandra-Kurla advanced, next to the ISC venue, has been titled ‘Pride Of India’ and can showcase with-it technologies and path-breaking analysis and development initiatives, schemes and achievements of the country’s leading public and personal sector players, government departments, analysis labs, academic establishments and allied sectors.

Parallel to the most ISC event, there’ll be a Women’s Science Congress, Children’s Science Congress and a Science Communicators’ Meet.
