RAJ-CHNew Delhi, Dec 31: Delhi Metro’s Rajiv Chowk station, one of the busiest, can shut Wed at nine p.m. to avoid overcrowding on New Year Eve however the interchange facility can continue.

“As suggested by Delhi Police, entry or exit at the station won’t be available when nine p.m.,” a metro spokesperson aforesaid.

But interchange facility are available for passengers of the Yellow and Blue Lines that have the station.

Rajiv Chowk station sees a footfall of nearly 5 lakh on weekdays.

Joint Commissioner of Police M.K. Meena told: “To stop overcrowding in Connaught Place, we’ve requested Delhi metro to shut the Rajiv Chowk station when nine p.m.

“We have additionally asked them to stay a watch on alternative stations within the New Delhi space. If needed we will raise them to shut alternative stations also.”

There will be restrictions on numerous arterial roads resulting in Connaught Place from 8.30 p.m. Wednesday.

Following intelligence inputs of possible terror attacks in major cities, Delhi Police has increased  vigil in numerous markets and outstanding places.
