By India Today Sports Desk: Islamabad United’s Hasan Ali, on Friday, March 3, pulled off an incredible effort during Match No.19 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 against Imad Wasim’s Karachi Kings at the Pindi Cricket Ground in Rawalpindi.
In the last over of the Kings’ innings, right-handed batter Irfan Khan tried to hit fast bowler Tom Curran down the ground. The batter was beaten a wee bit by the change of pace from Curran, but he seemed to have got enough bat for the ball to sail over the ropes.
However, Hasan Ali showed great presence of mind at the boundary at long on. He caught hold of the ball, but on realising that he was about to go over the boundary, he released it just in the nick of time.
Rassie van der Dussen, who was behind Hasan, completed the catch. The catch was checked by the third umpire, who found the catch absolutely clean. Soon after, the signal ‘OUT’ was shown on the big screen.
Alan Wilkins, who was commentating, couldn’t stop praising Hasan Ali for the wonderful effort. Danny Morrison also lauded Hasan and van der Dussen for their “team work”.
Hasan had an off day with the ball after he leaked 40 runs, although he got the important wicket of Adam Rossington.
After opting to bat first, the Kings put up a decent score of 201 for the loss of five wickets on the board. Imad Wasim scored an unbeaten 92 with 11 fours and two sixes.
However, Azam Khan scored an unbeaten 72 off 41 as the United chased down the target with four balls to spare.
