By India Today Sports Desk: GT captain Hardik Pandya felt that the team didn’t score enough runs in the first innings and said they should have tried to get to the 200-run mark after their loss to RR on Sunday.

Sanju Samson had put GT into bat and they posted 177 on the back of David Miller’s 46 and Shubman Gill’s 45. The RR chase got off to a bad start with Pandya and Mohammed Shami wreaking havoc in the first four overs.

But then Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer’s destructive batting got RR their first-ever win over GT with three wickets and four balls to spare.

Speaking after the match, as quoted by Cricbuzz, Pandya said that he didn’t expect the loss after the strong bowling performance in the powerplay.

“To be honest no (didn’t expect the loss after the powerplay), but that’s the beauty about this game. The game is never over till it’s over, another lesson for us,” said Pandya.

The GT captain talked about Noor Ahmed and said that the other bowlers didn’t execute well in the final few overs. Pandya also said that his body was feeling good.

“He’s someone who’s difficult to pick, got us the big breakthrough but the other bowlers didn’t execute. Body is good, everything is good. It’s a very long tournament. A lot of matches left, we still need to play a lot of group cricket even if we had won today,” said Pandya.

Pandya said that he felt that 177 was a bit short and said the team could have gone a bit harder and got to 200.

“I felt short. After I got out, they bowled a couple of good overs, but we should have gone a little harder and got to 200. We did cover it well but when I was watching from outside, I did feel that we were 10 runs maybe short,” said Pandya.
