By India Today Sports Desk: Gujarat Titans reached their second IPL Final in two years after defeating Mumbai Indians Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League 2023. Mumbai were left battered by Shubman Gill’s third century of the season, where the batter slammed his way to 129 runs off 60 balls.

Gujarat defeated Mumbai Indians by 62 runs in the Qualifier 2, making the side reach their second IPL final in a row. Former India captain Anil Kumble lauded the captain-coach duo of Gujarat and said that credit must be given to them for maintaining consistency from last season.

‚ÄúThis season, they have just continued from where they left off last year. In that sense, credit to Hardik, credit to Ashish, and the rest of the players as well,” Kumble said on Jio Cinema.

Rookie Gujarat players – Joshua Little and Noor Ahmad – in their maiden IPL season gave a great account of themselves. While Noor picked 14 wickets from 12 games, Little picked 7 from 9 matches.

“The players have done really well. The addition of Josh Little, the addition of Noor Ahmed, I think these two have really helped them and the impact player rule as well, with the addition of Sai Sudarshan and Vijay Shankar coming in and doing their respective roles,” Kumble further added.

After Shubman Gill’s brilliant century, Mohit Sharma was the star of the show for Gujarat and picked up 5 wickets from just 2.2 overs. This was the second ever play-offs 5-wicket haul from the bowler in the IPL history. The first time the feat happened was in the game before by Akash Madhwal in the Eliminator of IPL 2023.

Sharma gave away just 10 runs from his 2.2 overs and picked the wickets of Surykumar Yadav, Vishnu Vinod, Chris Jordan, Piyush Chawla and Kumar Kartikeya.
