New Delhi, Aug 11,2016: 5-year time period for RBI Governor must be good. Banks Board Bureau Chairman Vinod Rai on Thursday backed the suggestion of a set 5-year time period for Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, including that the present Three-year time period was too brief.
“The three-year time period for the RBI Governor with an extension of two years does not seem applicable. 4 or 5 or 6 years, the time period ought to be fastened,” the previous Comptroller and Auditor General stated when 5-year time period for RBI Governor must be good.
Rai was talking on the ebook launch of ‘Who Moved My Interest Rates?’ written by former RBI Governor D. Subbarao.
“Three years is simply too quick a time to put a roadmap for the RBI. 5 years is sweet,” he stated.

It will likely be within the curiosity of the economy if a set time period is given to the RBI Governor, Rai added.
