Mukherjee invites New Zealand to attend ‘Make in India’ initiative

Auckland, Apr 30: President Pranab Mukherjee on Sat invited New Zealand investors and entrepreneurs to participate within the “Make in India” initiative.

“New Zealand has created tremendous progress in farm development, food process, communications and data technology, clean energy and water, disaster management, biotechnology, care and services, to say a couple of,” Mukherjee added in his speech throughout a banquet hosted in his honour by New Zealand governor Sir jerry Mateparae once his arrival here from papua new guinea earlier within the day.

Make in India“We would greatly wish to enhance our bilateral co-operation in these areas, learn from the productive expertise and practices of recent island and collaborate with you in making new and innovative product and technology,” he said.

Stating that India looked forward to new partnerships with New Zealand in areas of common interest, he said: “We invite investors and entrepreneurs from New Zealand to affix Indian counterparts within the ‘Make in India’ initiative of my government.”

Mukherjee added that bilateral relations between India and New Zealand gained a replacement momentum since the visit of recent Zealand Prime Minister John Key to India in June, 2011.

“In 2013, our bilateral trade crossed $1 billion,” he said.

“However, given the relative size of our economies and also the wide convergence of interests in several areas, we have a tendency to each agree that the current level of trade and investment has to be smartly advanced so as to grasp its substantial potential.”

The president sought-after India’s cooperation in reforming the international organization Security Council (UNSC) and added that India stood able to shoulder larger responsibilities within the international arena.

“In the world organisation Security Council, New Zealand has self-addressed problems with world security and highlighted the challenges featured by smaller states,” he said.
