“Out of a complete of 814,591,184 voters within the country, 23,161,296 are between 18-19 years, so constituting 2.8 % of the national citizens,” the commission aforesaid, citing its 2014 information that was free Feb 14.
Among the twenty eight states and 7 union territories, Dadra and Nagar Haveli has the best range of young voters at nine.88 percent, followed by Jharkhand (9.03 percent).
While, Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 1.1 % has the lowest proportion of such voters followed by Himachal Pradesh at 1.3 percent.
In absolute numbers, Uttar Pradesh tops the list with over 38.1 lakh voters between 18 and 19, followed by province (around 20.8 lakh).
