71-journalists-killedNew Delhi, Dec 19: Seventy-one journalists were killed across the world, together with in India, in 2013, Reporters borderless said in a report Wednesday.

Asia topped the list with 24 deaths of newspersons in reference to their work, aforesaid the report by the international media group.

It aforesaid 39 % of the deaths occurred in “conflict zones”, together with Syria, Somalia, Mali, Pakistan’s Balochistan, Russia’s Dagestan and “the Indian province of Chhattisgarh”.

It aforesaid the killings dropped by 20 % compared to 2012 that witnessed 88 killings of newsmen.

The Middle East and North Africa reported  23 deaths of journalists every, the report aforesaid.

It aforesaid Syria, Somalia and Pakistan preserved their position among the world’s 5 deadliest countries for the media.

While 826 journalists were attacked, 2,160 were vulnerable or attacked in 2013.
