Olympic torch back on Earth after landmark spacewalk

Moscow, Nov 11 (IANS) A Russian spacecraft carried the Olympic torch back to Earth Monday after the torch's first ever spacewalk.Moscow:The Russian spacecraft carried the Olympic torch back to Earth Mon once the torch’s initial ever spacewalk.

The Soyuz-TMA-09M spacecraft, also carrying Russian spaceman Fyodor Yurchikhin, us traveller karen Nyberg and Italian Luca Parmitano, landed in kazakhstan at around eight.50 a.m, reported Xinhua.

The mission control centre has sent over two hundred search and rescue specialists, twelve helicopters and 6 emergency vehicles to the landing web site.

All the 3 astronauts were “in an honest mood” once a six-month long mission on the International space station, the mission control centre said.

The torch, which can light the most Olympic flame at the gap ceremony of the Sochi Games Feb seven, was raised into house November seven and was taken on a spacewalk 2 days later. it was unlit throughout the flight for safety reasons.

The Olympic torch has been sent into house doubly before, for the 1996 Atlanta Summer olympics and Sydney Games in 2000, however has ne’er been taken outside the spacecraft.

Flying the torch to the International satellite is part of the 123-day relay that covers Russia’s eighty three regions spanning 132 cities.

The twenty second Winter Olympic Games are slated for Feb 7-23, 2014 with ninety eight events to be oppose.
