Narendra Modi can’t wash his hands off Godhra, says Vajpayee’s niece to NDTV

karuna-shuklaNew Delhi November 6 : Atal Bihari Vajpayee(Her uncle ), is the BJP’s most iconic leader. Karuna Shukla, says she has turned down requests for reconciliation, which the BJP has erred by selecting Narendra Modi as its choice for prime minister.

She said that, “Modi cannot wash his hands off Godhra, referring to the burning alive of nearly sixty Hindu pilgrims on a train that triggered the communal riots of Gujarat in 2002 in which over one thousand individuals were killed on Mr Modi’s watch as chief minister.
Karuna Shukla said that when the riots erupted, Mr Vajpayee was livid with Mr Modi.
Mr Vajpayee as prime minister at the time, had famously written to Mr Modi, reminding him of his duties of “raj dharma” – to deliver good governance and justice without any discrimination on the basis of caste or religion.

“I will not go back. They used us. i’ll campaign against them,” Ms Shukla said regarding the BJP.
Ms Karuna has not been given a ticket for the state elections, which will be held later this month.

She told reporters last week that she had spent 5 days trying to meet in Delhi with BJP president Rajnath Singh.

She said.”I will understand that he may be busy but he should have replied to my phone calls,”.
