China decommissions first nuclear submarineBeijing, October 29 China has decommissioned its 1st nuclear-powered submarine after more than forty years of service in the military, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Daily reported Tuesday.

The submarine’s nuclear devices are properly disposed of and scientists have decontaminated the warehouse where nuclear things were stored during the past forty years.

The submarine will be used as an exhibit when it’s released from military service, according to the newspaper.

China’s 1st nuclear-powered submarine, the Long March one, was launched in 1970.

The Long 1st March belongs to the Han class nuclear-powered submarine (Type 091), that was produced based on technologies of the Nineteen Fifties and Nineteen Sixties and has short range weapons.
