Kolkata, Aug 18: The body of a woman who was allegedly gang-raped and dead was found hanging within her house Mon in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district, police aforesaid.

“The body was found hanging from the ceiling. we’ve sent it for post-mortem. only once the reports return, we will say if she was sexually abused  or dead,” Superintendent of Police Sukesh Jain told.

Jain aforesaid there were no injury marks on the woman’s body.

“There are contradictory claims by the woman’s family. whereas her brother-in-law has claimed she committed suicide, her husband aforesaid she was raped and dead. we are wanting into the matter,” he said.

No arrest has been created however.

With the woman’s husband being a local CPI-M leader, the party alleged the involvement of Trinamool Congress ‘goons’ and claimed she was abused  and paraded naked before being raped and hanged.

“Yesterday (Sunday), Trinamool goons entered her house and demanded Rs.12 lakh from her as a pre-condition for permitting her husband to come back to the village from wherever he was forced to quit a year back. Later, they dragged her out of house, paraded her naked before raping and murdering her,” Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Rabin debutante aforesaid.

Deb aforesaid a party delegation has left for Contai wherever they’ll hold a civil disobedience difficult the arrest of the culprits.

Local Trinamool lawmaker Dibyendu Adhikari rubbished the claims.

“All the allegations are unwarranted. we’ve no reference to the crime,” he said.
