President, PM congratulate Indian cricket team

P-M-PNew Delhi, March 10: President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tues congratulated the Indian cricket team for their eight-wicket triumph against Ireland in a World Cup Pool B game.

The president in his message to the team congratulated them for winning 5 games on the trot within the quadrennial tournament.

“Bravo & well done Team India on the fifth straight win within the ICC World Cup 2015 by winning today’s match against Ireland,” Mukherjee tweeted.

“Superb all-round performance. Congrats Team India! continue the momentum,” posted Modi.

A good bowling performance and knocks from openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma ensured Bharat muster a eight-wicket victory against Ireland to win their fifth consecutive game on a batting friendly wicket at the Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Chasing a complete of 259, Bharat rode on Sharma’s sixty four and Dhawan’s 103 runs to ease past the score. Earlier pace spearhead Mohammad Shami and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up figures of 3-41 and 2-38 severally to bowl out Ireland.
