MANMOHAN-SGuwahati, April 24: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is among the over 9 million people who are eligible to vote Thursday for Assam’s six Lok Sabha seats. The day began with eager voters turning up early at polling booths.

The prime minister and his wife Gursharan Kaur are listed within the Dispur assembly constituency that comes below Gauhati Lok Sabha body and they can forged their votes at Dispur Government HS college polling centre.

The final section of polls for 6 Lok Sabha constituencies – Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Gauhati, Nowgong, Mangaldai and Barpeta – saw voters queuing at polling stations since early morning.

Officials aforesaid around 17 p.c of the voters had forged their take the primary 2 hours.

Polling for the eight Lok Sabha constituencies out of total fourteen Lok Sabha constituencies has already been completed in Assam in 2 phases.

The first section lined 5 Lok Sabha seats, recording over 78 p.c of polling, whereas the second section of polling that lined 3 constituencies recorded over 75 p.c polling.

Voting is happening at around 12,000 polling stations wherever over 45,000 poll officers are deployed.

Election officers aforesaid that 492 corporations of paramilitary forces, state police and residential Guards are deployed.
