MTAKolkata, July 21: Traffic here came to a virtual standstill Mon as lakhs of Trinamool Congress supporters converged on the eastern metropolis from West Bengal’s districts for a mammoth rally in commemoration of Martyrs’ Day.

Hundreds snaked their thanks to the grand stage erected ahead of Victoria House at mall from wherever party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed  the throng. because the drizzle began, Trinamool umbrellas went up in the sea of people.

Waving flags raised with the party image, Trinamool staff walked from varied intersections of town, shouting slogans and created their thanks to the venue to concentrate to Banerjee’s address, wherever she repeatedly taught the participants to stay among the selected space.

As around 35,000 state-run buses were pleased to ferry supporters from the rural areas to Kolkata for the rally, thousands of commuters were left stranded on arterial roads waiting for taxis, shuttles and the left-over buses on a busy workday.

Office-goers lined up for upto an hour expecting their turn in autos and buses. folks clambered onto buses as presently as they noticed one. The vehicles appeared able to burst at the seams as more and more of harried passengers got on across the way.

Because of the huge crowd, cabbies refused to ply on the routes taken by rallyists. those that agreed charged exhorbitant rates.

Even though many faculties remained shut to avoid inconveniencing the students, those colleges that were open, left the choice on the fogeys to send their wards to highschool Mon.

With the traffic thrown out of drugs on the surface, the metro railways witnessed a large rush.

The railway stations in Howrah and Sealdah also bore the brunt of the gathering.

Kiosks of Trinamool record being sold  close to the venue added  to the chaos as many loyalists stopped to possess a look.

Ironically, whereas residents across town had to suffer, those present at the celebration were treated to tribal music and dances.

The Trinamool rally was control to commemorate the death of thirteen youths in police firing July twenty nine, 1993, once the party of India-Marxist-led Left Front was in power.

Originally discovered as Martyrs’ Day, it’s currently been christened by Trinamool as the ‘Maa Maati Manush Divas (mother, land, people day)’.
