FISH-HKolkata, Aug 13: India’s first hospital to treat unhealthy fish and provide solutions to farmers can return up in West Bengal by mid-2015, a politician aforesaid Wed.

The construction of an initial setup with twenty five water tanks to house affected fish is nearing completion, said T.J. Abraham, fish microbiologist at West Bengal University of Animal and fishery Sciences (WBUAFS).

“This will be the primary of its kind in India…,” Abraham told.

Funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural research, the project aims to extend fish production in Bengal by up management practices. the present yield is around fifteen lakh tonne annually.

“More than twenty p.c of the fish production is affected by poor management practices that result in stress in the organisms and as a result they’re afflicted with a spread of diseases. we’ll give varied interventions,” he said.
