Azad to attend BRICS health ministers’ meet

BRICS11New Delhi, November 5 Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad can attend the third BRICS health ministers meet November 6-7 in South Africa, focusing on strengthening health surveillance systems.

Health ministers from BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) can deliberate on the problems focusing on strengthening health surveillance systems and reducing non-communicable disease risk factors through prevention and health promotion.

Strategic health technologies ,Universal health coverage; medical technologies as well as drug discovery and development are the other areas of discussion include.

Health ministry official said that , “These thematic areas of work were identified in respect of every country on the sidelines of World Health Assembly (WHA) held at Geneva last year,” .

The 1st BRICS health ministers meet was held at Beijing, China in 2011.

India hosted the 2nd meet in January this year in New Delhi .
