Army evacuates 20,000 in Jammu and Kashmir

FLOOONew Delhi, Sept 08: The military has exhausted nearly 20,000 people marooned by floods in Jammu and Kashmir with the navy and air force also engaged in relief and operation, the military aforesaid Mon.

A defence ministry statement aforesaid the 20,000 were reclaimed in numerous regions of the state.

The army has deployed 205 columns for rescue and relief work and given away 4,000 blankets and ninety tents to victims of the worst floods to hit the state in half a century.

“The army additionally distributed 23,000 litres of water and 600 kg biscuits within the flood-affected areas,” the statement aforesaid.

It aforesaid sixty medical groups of the military Medical Services had swung into action.

Naval marine commandos reclaimed around two hundred people at Haigaon on the Srinagar-Sopore route.

Naval diving groups are on standby in New Delhi, Mumbai and Vishakhapatnam to proceed to Jammu and Kashmir.

A total of forty five craft and helicopters are ironed into service.

The ministry aforesaid eighty five tonnes of medicines are airlifted for the flood victims and sixteen relief camps had been set up within the state.

The Indian Air Force has reclaimed 1,245 folks using helicopters and transport aircraft. “So so much 140 sorties were undertaken by the helicopters and aircraft and 155 tonnes of relief materials are dropped.”
