Mumbai, May 08: Singer Ankit Tiwari was Thursday arrested once being defendant of rape and molestation by his former girlfriend Nidhi Khanna.

The case has been registered at Versova police station.

Ankit’s lawyer Nagesh Mishra said: “Ankit has not been in touch with the lady since one year and before that he was during a relationship with her for a couple of years.”

“He has been defendant of rape and molestation below sections 376 (rape), 417 (cheating) and 493 (cohabitation by a person dishonestly causing a belief of lawful marriage) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code),” he added.

“Nidhi is an advertising person. She is a woman and includes a 12-year-old child,” Mishra aforesaid.

Ankit’s claim to fame is the hit song “Sun raha hai na tu” from successful  movie “Aashiqui 2”.

Besides Ankit, his elder brother Ankur Tiwari has also been defendant of intimidation and harassment and arrested, aforesaid a supply.

Nidhi reportedly filed an FIR at Versova police office following that Ankit and Ankur were arrested and bestowed in Andheri magistrate’s court.

Counsel Mishra said: “Ankur would possibly get bail because the charge against him isn’t too serious. These are all false allegations and we can place our best foot forward to urge bail for Ankit also.”

Nidhi has claimed that she married Ankit 2 years agone during a temple, whereas Ankit says they need not been in touch for the past one year.
