Mumbai, Oct 14, 2016: Cinema owners won’t screen films with Pakistani artistes. The Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) on Friday introduced that films that includes Pakistani actors — beginning with Karan Johar’s forthcoming “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” — will not be screened in single display theatres in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat. Nonetheless, a Home Ministry official has mentioned the federal government has no downside in issuing visas to Pakistani artistes.

COEAI President Nitin Datar instructed after a gathering of members: “Now we have nothing towards Karan Johar. It is simply that we can’t permit the discharge of any movie which may have Pakistani actors or technicians in it” AS Cinema owners won’t screen films with Pakistani artistes.

“We’ve got collectively taken this choice that we can’t showcase such movies in our single screens. As of now, we shall be following this determination in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat,” Datar stated and added: “In future, if our (India’s) relationship with Pakistan will get higher, we’ll work in direction of it. However trying on the present state of affairs, we have now to take this determination” when Cinema owners won’t screen films with Pakistani artistes.

This information comes amid India-Pakistan tensions following a terror assault which killed 19 Indian troopers. The Indian Military then carried out surgical assaults on terrorist launch pads in Pakistani territory.

Given the state of affairs, and contemplating how Pakistani artistes shunned condemning the assault, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) had handed a decision disallowing them from working in Indian movies in future as Cinema owners won’t screen films with Pakistani artistes.

But it surely’s not a authorities diktat.
