New Delhi, Oct 09: A day once the Nobel prize in physics was won by the scientists who unreal blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs), the power ministry Wednesday launched a business model enabling the sale of LED bulbs to households at Rs.10 against the value of Rs.400.
“The Bureau of Energy efficiency (BEE) along side the Energy potency Services efficiency (EESL), that is a venture of 4 central public sector undertakings within the power sector, have worked with electricity distribution corporations (discoms) to develop a business model beneath that EESL procures led bulbs in bulk and sells them to households at Rs.10,” an officer unharness here aforesaid.
“The discoms then repay EESL, over a amount of 5 to eight years from the savings that accrue as a result of use of this energy economical lighting technology,” it added.
Under an MoU between EESL and the Andhra Pradesh government, EESL last week completed the acquisition of 2 million LEDs, the statement aforesaid.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.
