New Delhi, Sep 10, 2016:  Defence Ministry seeking particulars of Embraer aircraft deal. The Ministry of Defence on Saturday mentioned that it was in search of data from the producers of the Embraer aircraft over alleged cost of bribes in a three-aircraft deal struck in 2008.

“DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) to hunt clarification and particulars from producers of Embraer aircraft on media reviews on deal for the plane signed in 2008,” principal spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, tweeted.

“On receipt of data by DRDO additional steps could also be initiated,” the spokesperson stated in one other tweet.

In accordance with media experiences, the Brazilian plane producer Embraer is being probed by prosecutors in Brazil and the US Justice Department over commissions allegedly paid to a UK-based defence agent for clinching the 2008 deal as Defence Ministry seeking particulars of Embraer aircraft deal.

The deal, inked by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) authorities, concerned the acquisition of three EMB-145 planes for $208 million. The primary plane was delivered in 2011, and the opposite two have been delivered later.

The plane have been to be fitted with the DRDO’s Airborne Early-Warning and Control (AEW&C) system and had been for use by the Indian Air Force when Defence Ministry seeking particulars of Embraer aircraft deal.
