Still in negative, India’s inflation rate dips to historic low

INDIANew Delhi, Aug 14: India’s annual wholesale inflation for July fell for the ninth straight month to a historic low of (-)4.05 % from (-)2.4 % for the month before, led mostly by a 12.8-percent decline within the index for fuels, as per official data released on Fri.

The annual rate of inflation, supported the official wholesale price level, was ruling at 5.41 % in July 2014.

Data released by the Ministry of Commerce and business any showed that at the disaggregated level, costs of pulses were higher by as much as 35.75 % in July, over the corresponding month of last year, as the price rise in onions had stable.

Among the 3 major sub-indices, the inflation rate was (-)3.66 % for primary articles, (-)12.81 % for fuels and (-)1.47 % for manufactured products.
